A GYN ultrasound is performed on a non-pregnant patient when
Dr. McBride suspects a problem involving the pelvic area. There is
no special preparation for this test and you will be able to drive
yourself home afterwards.
Why would I need an ultrasound?
• Abnormal bleeding
• Pelvic pain
• To check for ovarian cysts
• Problems associated with uterine fibroids
What to expect during the ultrasound test:
A transvaginal probe is introduced into the vagina to better see your
pelvic organs. The test does not hurt and will take approximately
15 minutes. Typically you will have an appointment with Dr. McBride
after the scan to review your results.
